My son was attacked – Unleash Self Defence

Unleash Self Defence Warriors (21)

My name is Tahir Ahmad, Founder of Unleash Self Defence and this is the story of my son, Tehseen Ahmad, who is now 22 years old.

It’s an incredibly inspirational story which needs to be shared.

On the 1st September 2018, I was sitting in our living room waiting for Tehseen to return home, who was 16 at the time. It was about 8:30pm and ironically the very first time that I allowed him to be out this late by himself.

Suddenly I hear banging on the front door. I go to open it and find Tehseen breathing heavily and a quite disturbed. Asking him what happened, he tells me that he just got attacked by 3 older boys.

I got him into the car straight away and drove to the scene, but the 3 boys were no longer there. As soon as we got back home, we reported the incident to the police.

Here’s the full story:

It was approaching sunset and Tehseen had just got off the bus not too far away. As he began walking back home, he noticed 3 older boys approaching from the other side of the road. They must have seen him as an easy target to mug, and so suddenly crossed the road running towards him.

Tehseen’s training quickly kicked in, putting his back against a tree, as they surrounded him in this completely unprovoked attack.

The 1st attacker in front began hurling verbal abuse and threats to Tehseen as the other two attackers stood on each side of him. Paying close attention, Tehseen caught the 1st attacker give a quick nod to the 2nd attacker on his right side, who then immediately went for a sneaky swing for Tehseen.

Tehseen blocked the in-coming punch, ducked under his arm and quickly took his back using him as a shield against the other two attackers. Keeping a hold of him from behind, Tehseen kicked him between the legs straight up his groin, causing him to collapse to the ground.

Then the 1st attacker who was previously hurling abuse charged in with a punch and Tehseen blocked and countered with a hammer strike to his face, dropping him too.

With his two friends laying on the ground, Tehseen then turned to the 3rd attacker who seemed bewildered by what had just happened and now naturally hesitant to attack. Noticing his hesitancy, Tehseen put his hands up to him and said “Don’t”. But then one of his friends shouted from the floor “Get him”, which drove him to attack also with a punch. Again, Tehseen blocked the incoming swing, grabbed a hold of him and swung him face first into the tree.

Seeing that all 3 attackers were now laying on the floor, Tehseen took the opportunity to get away and ran back home.

It is every parent’s nightmare that their child is brutally attacked, and in such situations, the child often ends up in A&E and traumatised. However, thank God that in this incident, Tehseen was not only able to defend himself against 3 simultaneous attackers, but also managed to walk away without a single scratch.

It begs to ask the questions ‘Why? How was this even possible?’

Undoubtedly, Tehseen’s reality based self defence training with his father played a huge part in him being able to successfully survive such an attack. And not just survive but walk away feeling even more empowered and confident, having now proven to himself that what he has been learning over the years really does work!

Only a year ago, whilst walking to our Self Defence classes one evening, Tehseen was attacked by a man in his 20’s, again probably assuming him to be an easy target. Tehseen was by himself and only 15 at the time, yet he managed to floor this attacker instantly before making a run for it.

Both incidents prove that our training at Unleash Self Defence is realistic and effective for real life violence today, with one case having to defend against a larger attacker and in the other case, having to defend against 3 multiple attackers.

In fact, I did ask Tehseen after this multiple attacker case, what it felt like? And he simply replied, “It felt like just another class”, highlighting yet again the reality of our training. Why? Because that situation did not feel alien to him, he had been in that situation countless of times before in class and being accustomed to it, knew exactly what to expect and what to do on an instinctive basis.

When the police came to our house to make the report, even they said that they had never had a situation before where the victim beats up the 3 attackers.

It is truly an inspiring story for parents, children and anyone else for that matter, giving hope that with the right training, one doesn’t need to be a victim and can develop the skills and the ability to keep themselves safe in such situations.

As a parent myself, I can vouch like many other parents who also bring their children to our classes, that giving my children this training has given me and my wife the peace of mind that they have been taught the necessary skills to maximise their chances of survival for such violent situations.

As an individual, I can also vouch that having such training really does empower you with extraordinary confidence, as well as giving you the ability to go about your daily lives without any lingering fear.
